K-Line Construction is looking for a Powerline Technician Lead Hand for work within the Atlantic provinces for full time employment as well as for Emergency Restoration work for both Canada and U.S.A. We are seeking a team player who is ambitious with extensive experience Leading and working on distribution systems and who has the willingness to learn and grow with our organization. As a leader of a team of linemen, the Lead Lineman ensures the safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of all line work operations. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a commitment to safety standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership:
- Lead a team of linemen, providing direction, training, mentorship to ensure efficient and safe work practices.
- Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members, ensuring effective utilization of skills and resources.
- Conduct regular team meetings to review safety protocols, project plans, and progress updates.
- Installation & Maintenance:
- Oversee the installation, maintenance, and repair of overhead power lines, transformers, and related equipment while using Rubber Glove practices.
- Oversee the installation, maintenance, and repair underground power lines,
- Ensure compliance with company standards and local regulations during the construction and maintenance of power systems.
- Safety Compliance:
- Promote a culture of safety by enforcing safety policies and procedures, conducting safety audits, and addressing potential hazards.
- Provide safety training and guidance to team members, ensuring proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and tools.
- Technical Expertise:
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical issues, providing technical assistance and guidance to team members.
- Interpret blueprints, schematics, and work orders to plan and execute work activities.
- Operate and maintain various tools and equipment used in live line work, ensuring their proper functionality.
- Project Management:
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and project progress.
- Customer Relations:
- Communicate effectively with clients, property owners, and other stakeholders regarding project status and service interruptions.
- Address customer concerns and inquiries promptly, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Completion of a recognized Power lineman apprenticeship program or related technical training.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a journeyman lineman, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience in both overhead and underground line work.
- Experience in live line techniques, and 25kV rubber glove work is considered an asset.
- Certifications:
- Journeyman Powerline Technician Certificate and Interprovincial Red Seal Certificate
- Valid Class 1 for NB Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or equivalent.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid.
- Additional certifications in safety or electrical systems preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work under pressure and in adverse weather conditions.
- Computer proficient and able to learn new computer programs
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to climb poles, work at heights, and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Ability to work aloft in an aerial device
- Capable of lifting and carrying heavy equipment and materials.
- Work Environment:
- Outdoor work in various weather conditions.
- Exposure to electrical hazards, requiring strict adherence to safety protocols.
- Frequent travel to job sites within the maritime provinces.
